Former MLC Dr. Shehnaz Ganai has welcomed the inauguration of Jalandhar- Amargarh power project by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during his recent visit to J&K state. Interacting with media here she said that no doubt such power projects are pillar of development and they play a vital role in the development of area where they are built. She told that through this project the shortfalls of power in valley be compensated. She said that Jalandhar-Amargarh project is inaugurated at Baramullah and its supply lines run through different districts. Samba is one of the district which is benefitted and being given Grid as well as Line in and Line out (LILO) facility, whereas Pir Panjal region is totally neglected. She showed her grave concern over neglecting whole Pir Panjaal region by the government. Lamenting on such a callous approach she said that the authorities have used the land of Pir Panjaal region for supply lines of this project, but the region has completely been deprived of the grid and LILO facility which is very unfortunate. She apprised that issue regarding consideration was raised many a times in state legislative council, state government, administrative secretary, then state power minister and also stands discussed by the delegation of Pir Panjaal legislators with the Hon’ble Prime Minister some two years back at New Delhi. Whereas after the assurance in the council and the delegation by the Hon’ble Primr Minister nothing has been done in this regard so far and now the project has started working. Former council member said that this clearly shows the step motherly treatment by the governments with this region. She has appealed the HE the governor of state to review this demand of Pir Panjaal public and write to center government for provision of a grid and LILO facility in this region as the same will cause no effect on the production of power supply to this project. She said that we once again appeal the Hon’ble Prime Minister to fulfill his promise with the delegation of legislators of Pir Panjaal to benefit the neglected public of this region.
